-Very well put together
-Yes, however sessions started late, certificates wer not presented to clinicians or performing groups and more(????) info to the membership during the getnral membership: such as suggestion for clinicians, etc!
-Very nice.
-Yes …. I’m not sure what to suggest for another type of format. I did like not having the Friday evening dinner event and having Saturday ending at 5:00 PM. I know the Alaska Chamber Chorus’ Concert was not a part of the AMEA Convention but it surely made for a wonderful conclusion of a musical weekend.
Was there an appropriate amount of time for sessions and breaks?
Yes:7
No: 0
-I’d like more sessions with shorter breaks
-Yes, maybe too much time.
-15min. is goood break between meetings & 30-45 for exhibitions
-Consider starting at 8:30 or 9:00 on Saturday and shortening the 1:30-2:00 PM time to still end around 5 PM.
-Having visited the exhibits on Friday, the Saturday lunch break was a little long.
Did the sessions provide subjects of interest for you?

-Definitely. Great to be together and able to make good music together.
-Yes-All sessions were excellent.Yes. I particularly enjoyed the General Session on Friday with Robinson and the AMEA Session on Saturday with Weathered.

-More like Will Schmid, John Jacobson, amybe Kodaly (sp) influence.
-Andrew Dbycinski-string-sponsored by Alfred. Technology-Smart Music, etc... Garage Band. Roger Emerson-Audrey Snyder.
-Will Schmidt was excellent, world drumming is becoming more a part of our teaching all the time. The emphasis on good singing & singing is core was very well received.
-Teresa/Paul Jennings.
-More private studio work.
-Choir. Elem. Music.
-Technology used in the classroom.
-I am assuming that this is “different ones” from this year. I have no suggestions at this time.

Do you have any comments or suggests on exhibitors?
-I appreciate their efforts.
-I never saw 2 of them.
-Nicer location than “black box”. More, more, more!
-I would like a longer breadk on Friday morning for exhibitors.
-Well Organized. The art gallery was a bit small. Black box was a better location.
-More variety....?
-More of them-more than just ones who are promotion texbk adoptions-more like Orff conference.
-I enjoyed visiting with them but it is difficult not to buy something if I know them … which is probably their purpose.
Is there an exhibitor(s) that you would like us to try to bring to the 2010 Conference?
-K-8 Mag.
-None at this time.
Please add any additional comments below to help us make the 2010 AMEA conference better.
-I was very disappointed about the cost of the UAA credit. $298 is just too much for 1 credit when you consider how much I spent on flight, hotel, and conference registration. These courses are normally __ __ less than $100... through continuing ed. (500 level).
-Would it be possible to have the conference another time besides the first week back from winter break?
-We need administrators f/other districts.
-1) More student performances. 2) I really appreciate Russ Robinson working with a demo choir. 3) The lunch were excellent. I liked ordering in the morning and just grabbing at 12:30. 4) The conference was excellent and out of every session I came out with something usable. I especially appreciated SGM-world drumming and ACDA Russ Robinson. Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to put on this conference.
-There was some confusion for Mimi Butler, our string clinician. She hadn’t been told about “Crowd Control” at all. Very enthusiastic clinicians, all. Thank you!
-1) Conference Attendance: An awfully lot of work goes into the conference. Noticeably absent, were the teachers from the Anchorage schools. The Anchorage teachers were certainly represented, but a very small percentage of them were on site. I am hearing that there is an issue regarding having to use “personal leave” to attend the conference as opposed to using “professional leave” which would leave their “personal leave” intact to use as they desired. Also age wise, I see the old faithful in attendance but not the new teachers and those having taught in the 5 to 10 year brackets. Can this be addressed and altered to either entice them or motivate them to attend? 2) Reading Sessions: Most of the “out of Anchorage” teachers teach both band and choir, therefore, a reading session for either one or both of those groups ought to be held so that they were not at the same time. Most Alaskan orchestra teachers are just orchestra teachers so their reading session could be scheduled on top of either the band or choral reading session without much impact on a reading session. Also having them at the end of the conference left the choral session not only short of singing bodies but very tired bodies and voices at that. 3) Credit Offerings: For credit offerings, I feel that any general session as well as any performance group concert should be included as “required” for consideration of the course requirements. Often these sessions are equally as inspirational as the individual sessions are or even more so. Particularly for folks teaching outside of the main Alaskan cities where they are the only “music” in the area, they should be pushed, shoved, cajoled, encouraged, etc. to listen to and see other performing groups as a personal road test to measure what and how they are doing in their own area. (I still think it takes as much time to write the Conference Journal as it does to attend the Class, so many probably wonder what’s the point, but, I appreciated the opportunity to have it available.). 4) Performance Groups: I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to the performance groups and appreciated the efforts of those involved in getting a sampling of elementary, middle school, high school, college and, if you count the Alaska Chamber Concert, professional levels to perform. However, I was disappointed that the audience to listen and watch the groups was relatively small unless they were attached to the Opening Session or the General AMEA Session. As we all know, it is a gigantic endeavor to get a group prepared let alone transported to the conference to perform. Surely the performing groups deserve a bigger audience in a performing venue that is announced and established in the printed conference schedule. For instance, I waited for the South Anchorage High School String Ensemble in the Recital Hall as advertised and learned, after their performance that they had performed elsewhere. Also, I feel the groups should not be just “back ground music” but should be featured performers. 5) THANK YOU to all!
